OpenHand
Openhand is an international spiritual development academy with retreats in the UK, the USA and Australia. Its website is a large portal with thousands of materials, forums and its own community.
Challenge
Over the years Openhand has built up a huge archive: articles across a dozen topic sections, videos, podcasts, audio meditations, books and daily updates. A community lives around the site — forums, comments, a facilitator network and paid membership.
A portal like this can’t be “rebuilt from scratch” — it lives every day and brings the client bookings for events and retreats. The task is to develop it without breaking what already works and to keep it fast under load.
Solution
We worked with the portal on Drupal 10: content structure by type and topic, a daily updates feed, event sections with booking, forums and a member area.
A separate focus is the path from article to event: a reader who came for an article sees upcoming retreats, online sessions and the newsletter and can sign up in a few clicks.
